In celebration of Hartzell Propeller’s 100th anniversary, we talked with pilots, partners, employees, and enthusiasts from around the world. In this week’s video, Wipaire President and COO Chuck Wiplinger shares more about Wipaire and Hartzell Propeller’s partnership to provide better performance and reliability for seaplane pilots.

Wipaire is widely known to the world of seaplanes, manufacturing a full line of aircraft floats for all sizes of aircraft. The company got its start in 1960 under the leadership of Ben Wiplinger, who was inspired to make smoother and lighter floats for aircraft. He worked with the experts at 3M to incorporate a new metal bonding technique and designed new floats with flat decks to ensure pilots and passengers an easier entry and exit of their planes.

Ben’s son, Bob Wiplinger founded Wipaire, Inc. and the two companies later merged to provide a variety of quality services for floatplanes including maintenance, refinishing, avionics, and modifications. Much like Hartzell Propeller, Wipaire is a family company with a culture focused on improving the flying experience for pilots around the world.

Wipaire has engineered over 100 STC modifications for improved performance, convenience, and reliability. We’re proud to partner with another great family company and we thank Wipaire’s President Chuck Wiplinger for his kind words on our 100th anniversary.
