Oshkosh, Wisc. , July 22, 2015 – Hartzell Propeller’s appearance at EAA AirVenture 2015 highlights a number of new product developments for general aviation that the company has announced in the past year.
Among the recent new product developments:
Today, Hartzell Propeller Executive Vice President JJ Frigge updated the media at a press conference held at the company’s EAA AirVenture 2015 exhibit. In his remarks, he said, “Hartzell Propeller’s history and our people’s love of aviation are what inspires our technology and enables planes to fly higher and travel further.
“A strong tradition of innovation continues today as Hartzell expands the boundaries of propeller development through the production of lightweight, high performance composites. With an unwavering commitment to quality our carbon fiber props significantly improve performance.
“We produce propellers from start to finish with state-of-the-art manufacture to exacting standards, which is possible because our dedicated employees live and breathe aviation. Hartzell employees like to say we have Aviation DNA.”
Frigge also briefed the media on the company’s popular Trailblazer structural composite propeller specifically designed for backcountry flying. He said it has better take-off and climb performance, and rugged durability as a result of the use of aerospace-grade carbon fiber, stainless steel shank, durable nickel cobalt leading edges and blades certified for unlimited life.
Hartzell Propeller certified and produced the first structural composite blade in 1978, introduced resin transfer molding in 2006 and has produced more than 21,000 composite propeller blades. The Next Generation ASC-II composite carbon fiber blades introduced on the Cirrus SR-22T and now available on TBM, King Air 250 Husky, and available later this year for Piper Meridians, have accounted for more than 10,000 manufactured blades.
Hartzell’s unlimited life composite blade technology includes nickel erosion screen for FOD protection, urethane erosion protection materials, monocoque spar design for optimal strength and blades are tested for lighting effects and designed for indirect electrical system protection.
