May 11-13
This course is designed for the A&P/IA or Repair Station Repairman to confidently inspect and repair Hartzell composite blades. The classroom portion will discuss the four common types of composite blade damage: deformed erosion shield, debonded erosion shield, face/camber material gouge, and crushed/cracked trailing edge. An afternoon hands-on session offers the opportunity to repair composite blade damage. Classroom instruction includes how to navigate Hartzell Propeller Owner Manuals, Field Maintenance Manuals, Airworthiness Directives and Service Bulletins, and discusses evaluating propellers for airworthiness at annual inspection. An afternoon hands-on session in the Hartzell hangars offers opportunities for dressing metal blades, setting the low pitch stop, rigging propeller governors, and dynamic balancing.
