Hartzell Propeller receives new Organization Designation Authorizations (ODA) from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

Authorization provides Hartzell with the ability to approve and complete certification projects expeditiously

Hartzell will hold three ODA authorizations: the Type Certificate (TC) ODA, the Production Certificate (PC) ODA, and the Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) ODA. Hartzell is one of only three companies to hold all of these authorizations.

Piqua, Ohio – October 19, 2009. Hartzell Propeller Inc. has gained FAA approval under the new Organization Designation Authorization (ODA) program. This authorization provides Hartzell with the ability to approve and complete certification projects expeditiously, while also freeing up FAA resources.

A long-term market leader, Hartzell has also held ODA’s predecessor, the Delegation Option Authorization (DOA), since 1967. The new ODA program supersedes Hartzell’s current DOA and Designated Alteration Station (DAS) authorizations, enabling it to continue developing and certifying propeller systems and to certify those systems onto aircraft. With this authorization, FAA has acknowledged that Hartzell’s systems are of a standard that can be entrusted to carry out these important certifications.

Hartzell Propeller ODA administrator Richard Edinger said, “This ODA approval continues Hartzell’s tradition of having one of the longest continuously held FAA delegations. ODA will allow Hartzell to perform certification activities more efficiently and more rapidly than ever before.”
