Summer is on the horizon, and for pilots, adventure awaits! Longer days mean more time for cross-country flights, fly-ins, and airshows galore. What are you looking forward to this summer flying season?
We have a few ideas to add to your summer flying bucket list:
Like any skill, your flying skills can deteriorate over time. If it’s been a while since your last flight, take the time to refresh your mind and body with the controls and checklists. Practice performance maneuvers and procedures whether that’s with actual flight time, simulator training, or some good old-fashioned chair flying.
If you’re really rusty, you might even consider scheduling a flight with your favorite CFI to get current and feel confident before the busy summer flying season.
Summer is a great time to learn a new skill or add a new rating or endorsement to your flying repertoire. If you’re adventurous, why not try mountain flying or a seaplane rating? A tailwheel endorsement can take as few as 5-10 hours and open the doors to some very fun backcountry flying in the rugged wilderness. Or, maybe you’re finally ready to start your instrument rating. Remember, your pilot’s license is a license to learn!
Fly-ins are a highlight of the summer for many pilots, providing opportunities to introduce family and friends to the welcoming aviation community. Whether it’s a casual pancake breakfast with your local flying club or a week-long camping adventure under the wing of your aircraft, there’s something very special about sharing the joy of flight!
Speaking of summer fly-ins, look for the Hartzell Propeller team at the world’s largest fly-in convention, EAA AirVenture Oshkosh, from July 22 – July 28, 2024!
Our aircraft propeller experts will be on hand to answer any questions you may have — including how a Top Prop propeller conversion can enhance your current aircraft’s performance capabilities.
Here’s to a fun, safe, and memorable summer flying season!
