Hartzell Propeller Looking for More Employees

Hartzell Propeller Manufacturing Plant in Piqua, Ohio

Piqua, Ohio, Feb. 2, 2022 – Responding to an upsurge in future orders for aircraft propellers, Hartzell Propeller is seeking to expand its manufacturing workforce in Piqua by at least 10 percent. General Aviation’s worldwide leader in propeller manufacturing has openings for 25 to 30 qualified individuals and has launched a regional advertising and social media campaign to expand its workforce.

“As the market for propeller-driven aircraft has heated up, Hartzell Propeller has an immediate requirement for qualified applicants with technical competencies,” said JJ Frigge, company president. “A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required, and experience in a manufacturing facility is a plus.”

He noted many of the general touch labor jobs begin at approximately $20 to $25 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience. That is equivalent to $40,000 to $50,000 per year, before overtime. The company is also looking for higher paid skilled machinists.

Required Technical Competencies

  1. Mechanical Aptitude – Demonstrated examples (on the job or outside of work) showing competency to work with hands. Might include items such as body work skills, crate repair, general wrenching ability, construction work, in addition to other skills.
  2. Manual Dexterity – Ability to perform a job which requires detailed handwork.
  3. Experience with Process Standards – Demonstrated ability to read, understand and execute written instructions.
  4. Computer Skills – Experience with entering and retrieving data from a computer.

Higher paying CNC machinist positions are responsible for operating one or more machine tools or special purpose machines to required specifications in a state of the art manufacturing facility.
