Racing Aces Fund Scholarship With Air Race Winnings

Date: September 12, 2014 Category: Blog

We have used this blog to talk about new products, give a behind-the-scenes look at our technology, highlight events and remember great moments in aviation history, but nothing is more gratifying than writing about the moments of grace and camaraderie that define the aviation community. Today, we highlight one such event.

The Racing Aces, winners of the 2014 Air Race Classic Championship Title, were recently featured in Cirrus Pilot Magazine. You can read the full article here. The all-female racing team recounted their long road to the championship, and we were proud to see they use our aircraft propellers. What they did next, however, blew us away.

On Thursday, the team announced that they will be using their winnings to fund a $5,000 scholarship for women seeking aviation training. The deadline to apply is November 30th, and the prize will be awarded at the 2015 Women In Aviation Conference. This is, in fact, the second time the team has made this generous contribution to the future of female aviators. The awarded a similar scholarship after winning the Air Race Classic in 2012.

Everyone at Hartzell extends their heartfelt congratulations to The Racing Aces team, Dianna Stanger, Erin Cude and Joyce Wilson, for their racing success. We also extend our gratitude for their efforts to move the aviation community forward by empowering women to let their dreams take flight.
