Countdown to Oshkosh 2022: What’s New at AirVenture?

Date: July 19, 2022 Category: Blog Tags: , , , , , , , , ,

The countdown to EAA AirVenture 2022 is on! We can’t wait to be in Oshkosh when the grounds of Wittman Regional Airport are transformed into the center of the aviation universe from July 25 to July 31, 2022.

In preparation, we’re highlighting a few of the brand new activities, programming, and learning activities you’ll find at this year’s event, including options for aviation fans of all ages:

NEW Location and Programming for the Pilot Proficiency Center

Exciting changes are coming to the EAA Pilot Proficiency Center (PPC), a skill-building and gathering area to help pilots maintain year-round proficiency. Not only will the PPC have a new location (connected to the EAA Aviation Museum), but attendees can also register for free half-day clinics with keynote presentations, interactive and engaging breakout sessions, skills enhancement, and challenging scenario-based training exercises in one of EAA’s Redbird Advanced Aviation Training Devices.

Hartzell Propeller is proud to be a sponsor of the Pilot Proficiency Center and support training and learning opportunities for pilots of all skill levels. Each of the new half-day clinics will be limited to 66 participants, so be sure to sign up early and reserve your seat!

NEW Features at the EAA Learn to Fly Center

There’s no better time to become a pilot than right now, and there’s no better place to start your flying journey than Oshkosh! This year, EAA has expanded its Learn to Fly Center (located at the Four Corners in the middle of the AirVenture grounds) to provide aspiring pilots an even better experience with new daily forums, Redbird flight training devices, and at-home simulators. Visit the center to connect with Certified Flight Instructors (CFIs) and pilots, learn about the flight training process, take a simulated flight lesson, and get all your questions answered!

P.S. Volunteers are still needed for the Learn to Fly Center. Whether you’re an experienced CFI, low-time private pilot, or brand-new student, your skills are appreciated. Sign up here.

NEW Aviation Activities for Kids

No matter if you’re a seasoned pilot or simply an aviation fan, now is the perfect time to get the kids involved and make Oshkosh an annual family tradition! Just like in 2021, AirVenture 2022 will offer free admission for all those ages 18 and under, with plenty of fun, family-friendly aviation activities to discover throughout the week.

New this year is EAA’s Youth Education Center adjacent to the EAA Aviation Museum. Stop by to see the new space and sign up for hands-on STEM projects during the week. Kids of all ages will also enjoy taking the controls of flight simulators in the Warbirds area or exploring interactive exhibits in the KidVenture area. To wind down for the evening, check out nightly aviation movies at the Fly-In Theater, including the highly anticipated Top Gun: Maverick (July 29).
